Abstract Modern Art Definition

Source(Google.com.pk)
Abstract art is often described as art which is non figurative or non objective meaning the picture is not of something specific which exists.  The Abstract art is many times thought of as a departure from the reality of the world and into the imaginary imagery of the mind.  There are several different types of abstract art from cubism to fauvism and many others.  Like many types of art, the audience for this type often either loves it or hates it.
The term abstract art did not really get established until the late 1800′s or early 1900′s.  The theory at the time was that works of art should not just be an artists attempt to recreate the world but rather their personal vision or interpretation of the world.  Taking liberties to change colors or objects around in any way they would like is encouraged in this unique art form. The art in this category can vary greatly from artist to artist and they often have no more in common than that they are indeed abstract.  Some famous abstract artists include Barnett Newman, Fernand Leger and Theo VanDoesburg thought there are many others.  Like with many types of art, many people have their personal favorites.  For abstract art the viewer really has to ‘get’ the piece in a way that is not often required for other more traditional types of art.  A piece may just appear to be a mess to one person and a beautiful combination of ideas to another.  For abstract art, the beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Abstract art has changed through the last 100 years in many ways.  Similar to other artistic types there were phases where it was popular to draw seemingly random shapes and colors and phases where artists would draw common items in a unique and abstract way, and many other things as well.  The one thing that remained consistent through the years with abstract art is that it always provides a unique take on what the artist is creating.  Many people believe that abstract art, more than any other type, requires the viewer to think deeply and come to their own conclusions on the meaning and beauty of the piece. When learning about abstract art, either as an artist or just someone who enjoys viewing it, it is suggested not to over think it.  If something does not seem to make sense to you about a piece, than perhaps it should not make sense.  If a piece means one thing to you and an entirely different thing to someone else, that is generally accepted.  Like all art, abstract art should move you to think and experience the piece in a unique way.
This is a series of abstract impressionistic art faces that were drawn and painted with a variety of mediums in 2008. The shapes of the faces were built up with layers of paint pens, watercolor, ink pens, acrylic paint, crayons, markers, and colored pencils. Each abstract head painting has an unusual expression, and struggles to find a clear identity amidst the chaotic and energetic lines and colors. The art usually starts with a simple pen drawing of a face, and layers of medium are applied to distort, contort, and emote from the initial framework. The eyes in particular help to ground the abstract artwork with a familiar image that most peoples brains are able to identify for survival… faces.
